Funder Plus Film Screening

Working with our Funder Plus partner Media Trust, ten of our grant holders from our Young People & Education programme launched campaign films, showcasing their important work at a celebratory film screening at community arts hub, Rich Mix in London. 

Our Young People & Education programme aims to help young people have a good start in life, strong mental health and opportunities beyond secondary school. 

Our Funder Plus initiative was funded through the Mercers' Charitable Foundation, of which the Mercers’ Company is trustee. 

Media Trust and its volunteer filmmakers worked together to produce the following films:

Coram Beanstalk‘Life changes when you choose reading’ 

Coram Beanstalk is a national children's reading charity with over 50 years' experience in creating readers through our one-to-one, in-person reading support. Coram Beanstalk believes life changes when you choose reading. 

Body & Soul ‘Suicide prevention programme ‘You Are Not Alone (YANA)’

Body & Soul’s mission is to transform the life-threatening effects of childhood adversity and complex trauma. Its ‘You Are Not Alone (YANA)’ suicide prevention programme provides long-term, holistic support to young people most at risk of suicide and from marginalised communities. Since 2016, YANA has supported over 900 young people, with 0 suicides.

Fatherhood Institute:  'Six weeks for Dads'

The Fatherhood Institute is a UK charity working to build a society that values, prepares, and supports men as involved fathers and caregivers. It is campaigning for all UK fathers to have the right to six weeks’ well-paid leave in their baby’s first year, as a minimum.

National Day Nursery Association:  ‘First Five Years Count’

NDNA provides early years resources for parents and carers. It’s campaign film highlights the importance of the first five years of a child’s life and how its services can help parents make informed choices. 

Envision:  The Envision Programme

The Envision Programme empowers young people, who are often underrepresented in the world of work, to develop the essential skills and confidence proven to support their education, employment and well-being.

Spectra:  'Searching'

The film showcases Spectra’s trans services. From counselling to health advocacy, to mentoring and social groups. Services are delivered by people of trans experience themselves in a friendly, safe, confidential, non-judgemental and accessible space.

Sports Trust:  ‘Support your child to be a Healthy Mover

Sport Trust campaign shines a light on the crucial role physical activity plays in early childhood (ages 0-5) and calls on parents, carers, and practitioners to prioritise children’s physical development for a healthier future. 

Campaign for Learning'Parent Powered Learning' 

Campaign for Learning is dedicated to enabling social change by empowering people through lifelong learning. Its aim is to put family learning where it belongs - at the top of every agenda, from policy through to practice. 

Blueprint for All:  'Blueprint for Life' 

Blueprint for All work with young people, communities and organisations to create an inclusive society in which everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity or background is provided with tangible opportunities to thrive.

Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE) 'Power of Reading'

The Power of Reading plays a pivotal role in transforming literacy education across the UK. It supports schools to develop a curriculum centred around high-quality children's books, helping them develop their knowledge and skills, and providing book recommendations, planning and resources to improve their teaching experience.
